Caol Ila was built in 1846 and is the largest of eight working distilleries in of Islay (an island off the West coast of Scotland). Currently holds a production capacity of 3 million litres per year.

In the classical style of Islay, Caol Ila is made predominantly with Peated malt and resulting phenols have a great influence on the final taste of the Whiskey, as well as the coastal air salt that the barrels 'breathe' during maturation. It is one of the most accessible Islay malts.

Caol Ila 12 years is a Middleweight, but still a lot of packing powerful phenols, this is a refined dram, powerful with a sweetness of compensation. A balanced, peat beauty...

Note tasting

nose: fresh, based on herbs. leaves of mint rubbed, stemmy, wet grass and smoke. leaves and oily cigar, American walnut, smoked ham. Lemon peel in the port.

Mouth: good body, grease, tar, elegant fume. Touches of candies.

Finish: long, smoke, pepper, spicy heat.
